Tablescapes Gala /// Nov 10, 2016
In honor of TGAS 10th year, we are starting a new tradition for our annual gala. Tablescapes will be the most exciting and visually stimulating event of the year. Each table will have a beautiful and unique tablescape created by one of 30+ local artists, designers and florists and will be inspired by a significant artist throughout history. Local artists will have the freedom to interpret their inspirational artist however they see fit. Tulsa is home to so many creative people and we cannot wait to see what they come up with. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be the first to see these amazing creation, while supporting the girls of Tulsa Girls Art School.
Senior Art Show by Anecia Fowlkes
Quintessence is Anecia Fowlkes’ One Woman show that defines her essence in its purest and most concentrated form. Anecia’s collection of paintings explore the strength and complexities of women juxtaposed with elegant, femenine patterns. Her works depict womens’ varied expressions of self.
This show celebrates her graduation from Tulsa Girls Art School and serves as a fundraiser for her next endeavor in college.
Une Fete de la Menagerie
Cristina Ciriaco – Senior Art Show
Cristina Ciriaco’s solo exhibition, Une Fete de la Menagerie, was on June 16 at TGAS. Her artwork shows animals transformed into celebrators of the finer things! Her series of new works explore the unusual juxtaposition of wildlife with imagery reminescent of Marie Antionette’s decadence. Cristina’s final show celebrates her graduation from TGAS and will help her raise money to continue her arts education at Rogers State University! The event is free and open to the public.

Opening reception for “Deities of Intuition” is Thursday, May 5 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Tulsa Girls Art School, 2202 E. Admiral Blvd. All proceeds from Saleen’s solo show will go to the artist to aid in her future at Kansas City Art Institute.
The art show is free and open to the public with a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception.
Spectrum – Spring Art Show

Each TGAS student, from 3rd grade to 12th grade will be present at Spectrum: Spring Art Show to meet art patrons and talk about their new artwork.
Spectrum is inspired by the Pantone color palette. Each season Pantone releases a new color that is the basis for new color trends. Along the same line, TGAS students randomly chose a color of oil paint, which would be the color palette for their new works of art in Spectrum, including sculpture, paintings and more.
Each piece is for sale with 30 percent of sales going into each students’ micro-savings account.
Enjoy wine and lite bites with music by DJ Kylie from 5:30 – 8pm at Tulsa Girls Art School, 2202 E. Admiral Blvd. It is free and open to the public.
Walking Tall, A “Kinky Boots” Inspired Art Show

The works of iconic cartoonist Charles Addams, who is known for creating the spooky Addams Family characters, inspires this fantasticallly eerie gala. It will bring to life the essence of the Addams Family through amazing costumes created in conjunction with Ihloff Salon, a new series of live paintings presented by the girls of TGAS and an exclusive silent auction.

Experience 52 works of art from Charles Addams, one of the leading humorists of the 20th century and the creator of The Addams Family television show. This exhibition contains drawings, cartoons, sketches and watercolors of ghoulish characters and off-beat people that reveal the breadth of the artist’s comic vision. Tulsa Girls Art School will be displaying their interpretations of Addams’ cartoons in the annex during this exhibition.

Follow your “Bliss” to the TGAS Spring Art Show with New Orleans Artist Sally Heller
Multi-media installation artist Sally Heller is traveling from New Orleans to build one of her incredible art installations with the TGAS girls April 13 – 16, 2015 for the spring art show, “Bliss.” Her collaboration with the girls will culminate in a life-sized installation, which will be constructed in a space next door to TGAS and on display during the art show.
“This is a first for TGAS because the girls have never done an installation before,” says Executive Director Matt Moffett. “I’m excited that Sally is collaborating with us, not only because she has done prestigious art shows like her installation at Bergdorf Goodman in New York and her “ScrapHouse” sculpture in New Orleans, but because she’s a strong, successful woman artist. I’m excited for the girls to learn from her.”
In addition to the installation, the beginning, intermediate and advanced students will have individual pieces for sale at TGAS during “Bliss.” Original student works include all new oil paintings, a wood and glass reliquary, a handcrafted lamp decorated with Shrinky Dinks and must-see multi-media projects.

Come and Get Your Love on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at our annual Valentine show. Find your Valentine the perfect card, handmade by the TGAS girls using fine fabrics, which were lovingly donated to us by a local business. These upcycled cards are soft and unique and you won’t find anything like them anywhere else! The cards are $10 each. All proceeds from the Valentine show are going back to support our students and our trip to Santa Fe this summer!
Littles & Middles Art Show
This Thursday from 5 -7 p.m.
The gala was a hit but our Littles & Middles didn’t get to join in the fun, so please join us this Thursday, Nov. 20 for a special art show featuring the work of our beginning and intermediate classes, (the Littles and the Middles).
Each student is showing three pieces of art including an abstract piece, a self-portrait and a landscape.

Amber Valletta to host 2014 Tulsa Girls Art School gala, Through a Child’s Eye: Beauty Beyond Borders this November
The 2014 Tulsa Girls Art School gala, Through a Child’s Eye: Beauty Beyond Borders will be unlike any other featuring the debut of a collaboration between TGAS students and the Marilyn Ihloff creative team.
Celebrity Chair, model and actress Amber Valletta will be in attendance as will Honorary Chair and world-renowned artist Patrick (p.s.) Gordon. The event will feature a high fashion hair runway show in conjunction with the work of the Tulsa Girls Art School (TGAS) students, inspired by world beauty.
Numerous auction items including one from artist Donald “Drawbertson” Robertson, one of the founders of MAC cosmetics and Estee Lauder Creative Director, are sure to make for an unforgettable experience. Other artists whose work will be included in the auction are:
Tulsa artists Pat (p.s.) Gordon, Wendeline Matson, Jonathan Sobel, Chris Mantle, Sara Matson Westover, Kenneth Gonzales, Matt Moffett as well as artists Patton Miller, Caryn Brown, Maria Fragoudaki, Karen Manetti and Eve Sonneman.
The event is co-chaired by Kate Atkinson Jennemann and Sara Bost Fisher with Rita Singer serving as Patron Chair. It will be held Thursday, Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Assembly Hall, Cox Business Center. Tickets are $100.

Paton Miller – A Life Scribed in Graphite
Hi TGAS Friends!
We are so excited about visiting artist, Paton Miller, who is coming to Tulsa for the first time to teach our girls and to exhibit his work.
The art opening, “Paton Miller – A Life Scribed in Graphite,” which is curated by our girls, is one night only at Tulsa Girls Art School on Thursday, Feb. 27 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. with an artist’s lecture at 6 p.m.
It is free and open to the public.
Paton Miller, who is represented by Gallery Shchukin – Moscow, Paris and New York City, finds inspiration for his drawings through his experiences in traveling the world, his family and vibrant community in Southampton, where he lives, works and teaches.
While in Tulsa, he will teach the students of TGAS his unique drawing style on Wednesday, Feb. 26 – 27 and Saturday, March 1.
The girls drawings, which will be modeled after his teaching method, are to be displayed at TGAS’ April Art Show called “Casting Minds.”

Tulsa Girls Art School Winter Art Show, Imagine8
Opens at the Zarrow Center Jan. 16, 2014
The girls of the Tulsa Girls Art School are showing off their imaginations at their winter art show, “Imagine8” at the Henry Zarrow Center for Art and Education, 124 East Brady St. on Jan. 16 from 5-7 p.m.
Guests of the art opening will enjoy music from TU’s live jazz band, food and beverages, plus the imaginative artwork of TGAS students.
“Imagine8” includes artwork from 45 girls, whose age range from eight-years-old to 17. The works in the art show reveal their range and talent, through oil and acrylic paintings, sculpture, photography and multimedia pieces.
TGAS is a non-profit, after school art program that trains under served Tulsa Public School elementary students how to be visual artists.
TGAS teaches students in nine art mediums and 30% of their sale is put into the students’ micro savings account that each girl can use to purchase personal art supplies, for field trips and to pay for educational art classes and materials.
The show is free and open to the public, Jan. 16 – March 2, 2014

Mark your calendars! On May 3rd, 2013, Matt Moffett, the founder and director of the Tulsa Girls Art School, will paint 100 canvases featuring Tulsa cityscapes in 12 hours. Each painting will be available to purchase for $100 dollars on the day of the event! The proceeds will help fund TGAS; specifically, Matt’s summer painting residency through the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City! This program is a wonderful opportunity for Matt to become a better teacher for his students at TGAS.The studio will be open throughout the day, and everyone is welcome to stop by to watch Matt work, purchase a canvas, and view (or buy!) some other very special pieces by Matt himself, and the girls of TGAS.

Tulsa Girls Art School presents “MEET THE PRESS,” an exhibition showcasing the artwork of the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced girls in the TGAS program. The title of the show references the beautiful, new printing press the TGAS studio received in January 2013. Special thanks to Spirit AeroSystems for this generous gift; it has provided our young artists with the opportunity to experience the printmaking medium.Exhibition includes various forms of printmaking (Monoprints, Linoleum, Woodcut, etc.), paintings, sculptures, fiber arts, and painted platters by the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced artists of the Tulsa Girls Art School. The show is FREE and open to the public.

The girls watched Beautiful Losers, a documentary about high school outcasts who become huge selling artists and then turned them loose on canvas. This show is about their personal style coming through! There will be 31 paintings that will each be a glimpse into each girls’ mind. We are excited to have such a free show where the girls can demonstrate their personal style and growth with the freedom of what they want to create.
